Mastering the Art of French Eating
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you, mes amis, but I didn’t want to jinx it. But now that the news has appeared today in Publishers Lunch, I’m so excited to announce: I’m writing another book! Here’s what happened… I was working very happily on my second novel — about a female sommelier — when [...]

Reading in Paris
Friday, November 12th, 2010Thanks to Kristin Espinasse at French-Word-a-Day and Lauren Goldenberg from Shakespeare and Co., I’m thrilled to share some photos from Monday’s reading and wine-tasting. An author’s favorite sight: a window display full of her books. Pretending not to be nervous before the event. But actually, the room was so cozy and the audience so welcoming and supportive, I [...]

Thursday, November 4th, 2010People sometimes ask me what it feels like to publish a book and the truth is, it’s like a roller-coaster: you waver between exhilaration and sheer terror. But the highs are really high, and next Monday will (I hope) be one of them, when I present Kitchen Chinese at the venerable Shakespeare & Co. This Latin Quarter bookstore [...]

It was a lovely trip — well worth the backlog! — capped off by a terrific reading at Borders [...]

I am back from my wanderings and home from my book tour!I was so happy to meet so many old and new friends in Southern California and couldn’t believe it when I saw Book Soup’s sign in Hollywood (photo above). The best laid plans of mice and first-time authors
Thursday, February 11th, 2010Oh, mes amis, where do I even start? Well, the good news is that we had a wonderful party on Tuesday at the beautiful Museum of Chinese in America, sponsored by the delicious Luckyrice Asian food festival. I loved seeing old and new friends from the New York book and magazine world and was incredibly touched that so many [...]
