Mastering the Art of French Eating, in stores today!

By Ann | September 26, 2013

Today, Mastering the Art of French Eating finds its way to bookstores everywhere! I’d be so grateful if you picked up a copy at your local bookstore or favorite online retailer this week. I’m so excited (and nervous) to share this story with you!

In the meantime, if you’d like an appetizer, here’s an excerpt, thanks to my publisher, Penguin Books.

And here’s an ad they created for the book. Isn’t it beautiful?

Thank you so much for your support. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Where were you a few months ago??? We are about to leave Paris after our first visit. I read your excerpt and would have loved reading you book before we left the US.

Paris has been everything I dreamed it would be and so much more! We are staying in a studio on Ile St Louie, it is magical, almost like being in a small village. We have strolled along the Seine with our gelato from Amorino and walked the streets until we could walk no more.

I too learned about steak. I ordered a filet then realized I had forgotten to tell the waiter I wanted it medium. He said with a wonderful smile, ‘yes, of course you did tell me!’ I did???

When the meal came and I cut into this luscious and tender piece of meat, I was met with the magenta interior. After one bite I knew he had humored me and had been right. Although tipping is not necessary, our entire experience with him led us to ‘tip our appreciation’.

Sorry for this incredibly long story, can’t wait to get your book and can’t wait to come back!!

Fabulous! Wanted to purchase a copy anyway, but now that I’ve read the excerpt I’m hooked! I’ve lived in Paris briefly and dream of returning; I found myself hanging on every word as my memory—encouraged by your beautifully detailed descriptions—painted pictures of the cuisine, the sights, the city, your experiences. I felt as though I was there—strolling cobblestone streets and savoring each delightful detail of that lovely city.

Read interview in Bon Appétit…you really should visit Normandy, crème fraîche, sole, calva…and the white cliffs of Normandy!

Huge congratulations to you, Ann! What a super advert, very striking.
Enjoying your book and frustrated I didn’t know you when you were watching cat videos and wandering around Paris initially – made me think of my solitary early days too, but you did a far more interesting project by mastering French eating! Page 68, lol, what an original way to tally the bill using crêpes! Full of lots of gems like this. Have fun with the book signings and events.

I was so excited to get the two books I’d preordered when you’d first advertised your book this past Spring. I had them sent to my mom’s house in Oklahoma because I knew that I’d be flying in there for a visit from my home in Wales. I finally laid my hands on them last week! I gave one to a friend (who loves it, BTW) and I read three quarters of my copy on the flight back to the UK. I’d read your book, “Kitchen Chinese” last year and knew that this one would be just as entertaining and addictive! I feel like I’ve just been back to France and can almost taste your delicious stories! Well done, Ann!
