Balletomane
By Ann | February 4, 2010

Bonjour, mes amis! I saw the prettiest window display while running errands this afternoon — the birth of a ballet shoe.

Don’t these photos make you want to rise onto your toes and pirouette away? (Black nails, bruised toes and stress fractures notwithstanding? Sidenote: I just googled “ballet dancer foot problems” and came up with this horrifying yet fascinating article.) Enjoy the pretty pictures!
P.S. I am leaving tomorrow (yikes!) for my book tour! Panic stations! I hope you’ll check out my appearances page and consider stopping by one of my events. I would love to see you!
I will try to update this blog from the road, but for immediate news about Kitchen Chinese, become a fan on Facebook, or follow it on twitter.
Also, there’s still time to pre-order a discounted copy on Amazon!

Have a great time on the book tour! Best of luck! I think I’ll pass on the ballet dancer foot problems pictures, though.

I always imagined some secret support system within ballet shoes, but it appears they are true slippers. The three thin layers pictured above seem ill-suited for leaps and bounds onstage. Nice pictures!
