Vive la France!

By Ann | July 14, 2009

Whether you are in France or à l’étranger, Happy Bastille Day mes amis! I just stepped off the Eurostar from London but I couldn’t call myself a francophile if I didn’t try to see the fireworks tonight. Alors, off to the Seine I go, with friends, to catch the 10pm feux d’artifices. Stop by for a report tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy this clip from Casablanca, of the best rendition of La Marseillaise, one that always brings tears to my eyes.

Allons les enfants de la patrie…

People love Casablanca for good reason, such as the scene when the elderly refugee couple are testing their English:
    – What watch?
    – 10 watch.
    – Such much?

Ok, Ok! Vive la France! Is there a special food that celebrates Bastille Day?

UPDATE: The fireworks were pretty, but my view through a tree was too limited. Still, I liked it when the Eiffel Tower sparkled. She really is a beauty.

Dad — I don’t think there is a special Bastille Day food. Maybe because it’s more of a national holiday, than a religious feast day?
