Flower power

By Ann | December 10, 2007

I’ve long been a fan of the Finnish designer, so when I saw the patterned tea towels at Tabletop, I had to snap one up. The shop offers loads of other Marimekko accessories – shower curtains, tote bags, mugs, umbrellas — as well as other original and covetable home accessories.

My flowery tea towel inspired me to check out Marimekko on-line, where I discovered so many stunning and sumptuous fabrics. I especially love the oversize roses in the pattern called Festivo.

You won’t believe this, but I actually passed a marimekko store in Silver Spring on Georgia Avenue! Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to stop, but it looked like they had a variety of items!

Tabletop was a great store, perfect for Christmas shopping. The focus, of course, is on kitchen and dining items, but there was much more, including those very cute “ugly” dolls. In addition, as someone who loathes carols, I was delighted to hear Hal and Grandaddy on the stereo system last Sunday (December 9) instead of Christmas music — silver bells silenced!
